Hamburger Cheese Bake

Comfort food packed with protein!! Lasagna elevated and so creamy and delicious!!

RECIPE:

1 pound lean ground beef- 96% or 93%

½ cup chopped onion (1 medium)

1 15 ounce can tomato sauce

¼ teaspoon salt

¼ teaspoon garlic powder

¼ teaspoon ground black pepper

1 cup lowfat cottage cheese

8 ounce package cream cheese, cubed and softened

¼ cup light sour cream

⅓ cup sliced green onions (3)

¼ cup chopped green sweet pepper

2 tablespoon grated Parmesan cheese

Fresh Italian (flat-leaf) parsley (optional)


Preheat oven to 350°F. Lightly coat a 2-quart rectangular baking dish with cooking spray; set aside. In a large skillet cook the ground beef and onion until meat is brown and onion is tender; drain. Stir in the tomato sauce, salt, garlic powder, and black pepper. Remove from heat.

Meanwhile, cook noodles according to package directions; drain. In a medium bowl stir together the cottage cheese, cream cheese, sour cream, green onions, and sweet pepper until combined.

Spread half of the noodles in the prepared baking dish. Top with about half of the meat mixture, then all of the cottage cheese mixture, spreading evenly. Top with the remaining noodles and remaining meat mixture. Sprinkle evenly with Parmesan cheese.

Bake, uncovered, about 30 minutes or until heated through. If desired, garnish with parsley, if desired.
